The site is now on a new server...

Postby dodgeboy » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:57 pm

I have migrated the site over to the new server. This should be relatively transparent to all of you. Please reply to this thread if you have any issues.

Thanks,
Dave

No problems with the site.

However it seem that the posting of messages and opening of some threads is taking a wee bit longer than before.

I'm still doing some pretty heavy mysql restores for some of my other sites... The server's running at around 80% right now, and the disk is thrashing like crazy. Once all that's complete, it should be significantly faster than before...

Thanks for the feedback (this is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for)...

Faster was definitely one of the reasons I moved it... Some of my other sites really put a load on my server, and had clearly outgrown the hardware. This site is pretty easy on the server, but it does respond faster as a result of the other ones not crushing it. :)

I'm glad to hear it's faster. I'm still trying to work out one final issue. It's either an issue at my hosting provider, or an issue with my NIC. For about 30 seconds, every couple hours, the NIC hangs. No Tx/Rx packets during that time. I've read others with similar issues with the particular NIC I'm using in linux, so I'm assuming that's the issue... Not sure when I'll have time to put a new NIC in, though.

Not sure if it is server related...but yesterday for about 20 mins I got 404 errors, the site appeared to be down.

I also just got the same thing about 5 mins ago...but it is obviously working now.

Last night was at home, today was at work...hope it helps....

It does. I had a flaky network card in the server, and just finished replacing it (I'm still in the data center now). Hopefully it will be stable from this point forward.

And that's when I headed over to the datacenter where my server is. :)
